Evaluation

The most challenging thing about making our music video was that getting organised, putting a plan together, this was difficult because we was working in a group and we all had different ideas and plans, it took a while to finally decide on a plan and choose jobs and orginise our time in the group.
Also getting used to the equipment and software, going into the video blind was difficult, not knowing all of the skills needed to use the equipment to make the best video possible, for example doing the editing process was hard because I was new to the software and I had never edited a video before, now I know what I am doing I feel that I could do a better job now.
Therefore next year I know how to improve, I can improve by better planning, I need to carry out more research before, looking at every detail needed to create my video, and gathering everything needed from costume to props and equipment and be less indecisive. But through this task has allowed me to learn lots of skills, hopefully using the skills needed won’t be as difficult now. Because this task has helped me hugely, as I know what the process consists of and what skills are needed, and I am more knowledgeable, also improving my confidence for the next time I make a video. Also not having to work in a group next year may help as I can focus on my own ideas not having to consider others.
Our video was successful because it was similar to the video, we considered locations and props and lighting that was included in the video to create the mise-en-scene of the video with good performance, a range of camera shots and editing that fits the song This helped to make the video look good and interesting and similar to the real video it also helped to tell the story of the video. However it was unsuccessful because of the costume we used and the filming, it looks unprofessional due to the shaky camera shots. Also the costume was different to what featured in the video, for example the bench t-shirt and school uniform and doesn’t fit the mise-en-scene and narrative.

My favourite part of our video was how we tried to challenge ourselfs and we managed to pull it off, this is because we had to put a reverse effect on the shots. Because the real video went from the end to the start, and each movement was in reverse, this was used in the real video to distort the narrative and was very affective. And the worst thing about the video is the filming which I know to improve by using a tripod next year.
